Why do I need to service my car?

Getting your car serviced yearly is just as essential as your MOT. Staying on top of your fluids and all-round health of your vehicle will not only add years on to your car but can help you discover faults before they become expensive headaches, or take your vehicle off the road entirely. Not only does servicing your car keep you on the road, but it can also be beneficial if you would like to sell your car in the future. Buyers expect more for their money, especially when it comes to cars, so having evidence that you’ve kept on top of your service history can help you sell your vehicle at a higher price.

Types of Car Servicing:

Interim Service Interim services should take place every six months, or every 6,000 miles. During an interim service, we look at different aspects of your car such as oil and filters, top-ups of essential fluids, your brakes, suspension and steering.

Full Service If you would only like to service your car once a year, then a full service is the perfect solution. We recommend that your vehicle receives a full service every twelve months or every 12,000 miles. A full service includes all the checks that will take place during an interim service, along with an inspection of your air filter, radiator, power steering fluids and fuel pipes.

Major Service We recommend a major service every twenty-four months or 24,000 miles – whichever comes first. A major service is vital for your car as it looks at the overall health of your vehicle and it’s parts. Over time, things like your spark plugs and timing belt can deteriorate, which can lead to major problems later on. You’ll also receive all the points mentioned from our interim and full services.

Benefits of regular Car Servicing:

Reducing the cost of repairs over the life of your vehicle
Lowers your risk of unexpected breakdowns
Increases the amount of time your car is on the road
Less inconvenience of not having a vehicle
Increase the lifespan of components such as tyres and brakes.
